Simon Birnstingl
Constituency Labour Party Trade Union Liaison Officer
I’m self-employed with a small business improving gardens and green spaces. I’ve had a mixed working life and know what it’s like to worry about keeping a roof over your head. I have been a parish councillor in Upper Beeding for almost 17 years chairing committees and representing the council on outside bodies like the Youth Service and the Greening Campaign, working with district and county councillors from other parties in the interest of local needs. We are at a turning point in British politics. We face the threat of environmental catastrophe if we fail to act effectively and we need to work together. The Tories have no vision for the future. Meanwhile young people face the prospect of few quality career opportunities, unaffordable housing and a world they’ll inherit that looks ready to fall apart. Labour is the only party that can make the necessary changes.
